Nicknamed “The Lady in Black” and “The Track Too Tough to Tame,” Darlington Raceway is home to NASCAR’s Official Throwback Weekend and hosts two NASCAR Cup Series race weekends each year. Since its opening in 1950, this legendary 1.366-mile egg-shaped oval has challenged the best drivers in the sport, making the Southern 500® one of NASCAR’s most iconic races.
Racing legend Rusty Wallace once said that the moment a driver starts racing their competitors instead of the track, they’re about to hit the wall. Many have earned the famous “Darlington Stripe” as proof of this track’s unforgiving nature.
Now, you have the chance to take on Darlington Raceway—on two wheels!
Bicycles on the Speedway: A New Tradition
For the past three years, Darlington Raceway and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) have partnered to bring cyclists an unforgettable experience on this historic track. This year, we’re excited to continue this tradition with a new date—the last weekend of September.
What to Expect
????? Start & Finish on the Track – Cyclists will begin with nearly three laps around the speedway before exiting through the tunnel to ride one of five route options:
? Short Route
? Medium 1
? Medium 2
? Metric Century
? English Century
After completing your chosen route, return to the track for as many extra laps as you like before crossing the famed start/finish line at Darlington Raceway!
????? Last year, one cyclist completed a metric century and then rode additional laps to reach a full English century. That’s an option again this year—how far will you go? (Please note: No track riding after sunset, as the lights will not be activated.)
